Avia S-199 Mule 1/72 Eduard
I´m going to repeat myself in the case of Eduard´s Avia, but the kit S-199 Mezek is addictive. Immediately after I finished the Israeli Avia S-199, I started building two more. In this time CS-199 and S-199 in Czech colours.
For single-seat machine, I decided to build a later production version with a different cockpit canopy, without oil cooler under engine, round wheel well and camo from the AERO factory (AERO – dark green, Avia – light green grey),
There is not much to say about the build. Like my colleague Dušan Vrážel, I have to say – just great!! In this case I also upgraded the kit with rudder pedals, exhaust and Revi 16 gun-sight from U3D. I also added a vacu canopy from Rob Taurus and replaced cannon barrels with brass tubes. The one-color camouflage from the Gunze paints, was piece of cake. Next job was decals, in this time much better, then in Israeli Avia case. Although a few steps short of quality of the Cartograph/Techmond decals. The slightly larger national insignia on the wings are a rather disappointing flaw. Another is the protruding background white at the stencils. Unfortunately this is only visible after the decal is applied. And finally, the slightly blurred printing and strange colours on the Czech insignia, which seem to be washed out. The actual work with the decals was without problems. Decal overcoat I washed with Zippo lighter fluid. This method is more gentles and also the safest. After final patina, the Czech single-seat Mule was finished.
Now I still have to finish CS-199 and the idea predecessor, the S-99 (Bf-109G-10) 🙂
