Curtiss P-40 K 1/72 Special Hobby
This particular P-40 K-10 (with long fuselage) of the Brazilian Air Force belonged to the II.st group called Gruppo Monoposto Monomotor (single seat-single engine). This group based in Recife 1943 aimed to provide the advanced training of fighter pilots and to patrol over the Brazilian coast and country.
My intention was to perform quick and straightforward OOB build. I spent about 14 days building this kit. I consider the P-40 Special Hobby as one of the best kits of this brand. In the case of boxing with a high-quality Cartograf decal sheet, you will get really valuable stuff. There are some minor fitting issues with parts of the front cowling and the spinner assembly. The attaching of rear canopy windows was challenging as there are not many points where to glue it without a visible glue mark. Nevertheless, the parts have quite a good fitting so I managed it well. I wanted to have a similar shade of green in brazil insignias with another brazil subject in the display cabinet, therefore I masked and sprayed green in decal sheet with new paler shade.
Well, I have the 11.th kit in my growing P-40 collection and another is waiting for next build.
So nice to see such a very well-made P-40K in rarely seen Brazilian livery….your Vultee V-11GB2 is equally stunning
Indeed, the Special Hobby P-40 series sets the standard in 1/72, and in particular your paint matching of the Brazilian green is superb
Thank you for the comment, I intend to build more Brazilian subjects and hope they will be at least equally interesting like P-40.
