1/72 aircraft

Polikarpov I-16 type 10, also known as Mosca (Fly), flown in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War by Eduardo Claudín Moncada. If you want to build a decent model of a Spanish I-16 in 1/72, you need to backdate a later version. I don’t mind, as I enjoy such conversions.

The build of Arma Hobby’s Hawker Hurricanes was a pleasant surprise for me. I really enjoyed those OOB builds.

My model depicts a No. 310 Sqn RAF machine, flown during Autumn 1940 by P/O Emil Fechtner, DFC. On October 29, 1940, he collided mid-air with one of his fellow pilots, Jaroslav Maly. While Maly managed to belly land his damaged plane, Fechtner crashed into the ground.

My most recent build is this German sports plane of the early 1930s, the last of a line designed by Willy Messerschmitt. In 1934-1935, Wilhelm Stör won the German Aerobatic Championship in a M.35b. I built his machine from the time of the Berlin 1936 Olympic Games.

For the purpose of a relax build I chose my favourite sport plane – the Zlin XII by RS models. I decided to build the British marking, as I already had the Czechoslovak DH Puss Moth.

De Havilland DH-80A Puss Moth was an aircraft that was a part of the Baťa Company’s air fleet in the 1930s. The company bought three of them (OK-ATG, OK-ATF and OK-ATU), and they were used for business trips as far as to India.

Fouga Magister, one of the famous trainers and competitor of Czechoslovak L-29 Dolphin. The kit is one of the first Special Hobby kits made by standard technology of iron mould. For my initial OOB build I selected a plane obtained by Irish Air Corps.

This kit caught my eye at the ModellBrno event while I came around a seller from Ukraine. I haven’t known this particular aircraft until that moment, neither the kit producer.

Saiman 200 was a relatively insignificant trainer plane, serving in the Italian air force from 1940 to 1947.
